Sangobion's Be A Lifesaver Today Launched at SM Fairview Activity Center
Sangobion initiated a blood letting campaign at SM Fairview Activity Center earlier today, December 5, 2014.
Did you know that the lean months of blood letting is November, December and January. Yes, now you know!  According to Red Cross the all-time low are recorded every December. Most especially during Christmas season because all people are merrymaking with their respective families thus only a few blood donors are recorded during this season. But this is also the time of the year when the need for blood peaks up especially towards the New Year because of accidents.

ABS-CBN's It's Showtime host/singer/actress Karylle graced the event performing her new song "Kapiling Ka" from her new album "K".

Lifestyle blogger/model Kelly Misa encouraged the crowd to donate blood especially now that the organization is prepping for the onslaught of the strong #typhoon #Hagupit /#RubyPH heading to the Bicol and Visayan region.

  • For every blood donation, three lives are saved according to the Philippine Red Cross.
  • After only an hour, more than 150 blood units were turnover by Merk representatives to the Philippine Red Cross.
A study of nearly 3,000 middle-aged men found that those who regularly donated blood had 88% less risk of heart attack. Scientists have a few theories as to why this is. First, there’s the iron thing. Several studies have shown a connection between high iron levels and increased risk for cardiovascular diseases. One study found that high iron levels immediately constrict blood vessels and reduce blood flow in your circulatory system. When you have reduced blood flow in your arteries, they begin to harden. What’s more, high iron levels in the blood can oxidize cholesterol, and the product of this oxidation deposits itself on the walls of your arteries causing build up which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Besides reducing iron levels, donating blood on a regular basis also reduces blood viscosity, or thickness. Blood that’s too thick doesn’t transport nutrients to your tissues as well. Generally, men have more circulatory problems due to high blood viscosity than pre-menopausal women. Researchers theorize that a woman’s monthly period helps keep blood viscosity in check.

Finally, donating blood on a regular basis can help keep cardiovascular problems at bay because with each visit you basically get a mini-physical that checks your cardiovascular health. Each time you donate blood, you’ll find out your blood pressure, pulse, and cholesterol levels. You can use that info to make changes in your lifestyle if they’re creeping to levels that put you at risk for cardiovascular problems.

Donating blood will help save lives and also make your body produce new blood to improve your health. I am all praises to all of the mall-goers who donated blood during the event.

Everyday, someone needs blood in every hospital in the country. Sangobion, the Iron Booster contains vitamins and minerals and ferrous sulfate. It's the perfect partner in blood donation drives because it's going to help you recover fast.

Hospitals uses 2000-2500 units of blood daily and it is a great way of giving if you don't have enough money to feed or give gifts to the poor. The needy patients will definitely benefit and the donors will also benefit knowing the mature blood will be replaced with new and improved platelets and plasma. I hope Sangobion continues to sponsor this blood-letting activity even after Christmas.
