Joseller "Yeng" Guiao was born on March 19,1959.  He is a well known Filipino professional basketball coach.

Guiao is the son of former Pampanga Governor, the late Bren Z. Guiao. He was an alumnus of La Salle Green Hills and studied at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, where he was a member of the Senior Men's Varsity Basketball team. He entered the coaching ranks in the 1980s.

Guiao won seven PBA titles since starting his head coaching job for Swift in the early 1990s. He is a former Philippine Basketball League commissioner from 1997–2000. He was also the Vice Governor of the Province of Pampanga from 2004 to 2013, serving three different Governors, Mark Lapid, Ed Panlillo and Lilia Pineda. He is a former congressman, representing the 1st District of Pampanga from 2013 to 2016.

Double-duty Coach Yeng Guiao is the current Team Pilipinas (Gilas) and NLEX Road Warriors coach.  During his time as vice-governor, Guiao had been a vocal advocate of transparent and streamlined revenue collection in Pampanga’s quarry industry.

NLEX Road Warriors players Asi Taulava and Keiffer Ravena are also present during the blogger conference to show their full support to their coach.

National Team regular and NLEX Road Warriors Center 6'9" Asi Taulava says “In international competitions, our team, it’s a different game. Our coach as a congressman can boost that. We are all rooting for him.”

NLEX Road Warriors' center 5'11" Kieffer Ravena says “The short time I have been with them, he is very genuine. He says it when you need to improve on, every opportunity he gets to help in the youth of Pampanga. In my scenario, it would have been easy to let me go but they supported me, it helps to have leaders who gives you confidence to do your own thing. A lot of players know and want to play for him, to become the best person possible, he does it a lot. He makes students be in their best position, I am open to help in his campaign. I believe in what he is fighting for, not because he is my coach, but his sincerity, if he gets elected Pampanga will be benefiting from it.”

The former Congressman for the 1st District of Pampanga and double-duty coach is keen on contributing specifically on Clark, Pampanga’s economic growth. “ASEAN games will be held in Pampanga, in Clark, making Pampanga an important hub for business and development.”

With a coaching career in the PBA dating 29years ago, Yeng Guiao has been known for his eye for talent.  Now, Guiao advocates to bring more business interest to his Pampanga home province. “I have done so much work coaching basketball. It is time to do more for public service.”

While Guiao hinted on making less time with basketball commitments, he was in full support for sports development. “I support sports in general, not just basketball, for future generations. It is a growing personal advocacy I want to pursue for long term,” said Yeng Guiao. Getting his PBA mate’s support, Guiao is bent on putting more financial support to sports. “It is not a secret sports in the Philippines needs funding, and from that growth would spell into a win in international sporting events for Filipinos,” Guiao said.

Despite being known more in the field of basketball, Yeng actually comes from a line of public servants. “I come from a family of public servants, over thirty years, and I want to contribute to Pampanga’s development myself.”

Getting off the hardcourt is not in Guiao’s full plan, but he is willing to take more time if that would help his Pampanga constituents. “I believe I can do more, with my stature in sports, in helping my province become a developing economic hub that could help this country.” The head coach of NLEX Warriors team is all ears when it comes to helping others. “It is not enough helping people in terms of financial support. “I aim to work hard so I can help more people get better lives with development advocacies I know would help Pampanga be more productive,” said Guaio.
