Be Careful With My Heart: To End on November 28
Filipino viewers witnessed the journey of Maya and Ser Chief, played by Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap, respectively; as employee-employer to married couple and now as parents to the twin.
Since it debuted in July 2012, "Be Careful With My Heart" has remained the No. 1 daytime program in the Philippines. The popularity of the series has spawned a line of merchandise, a gold-selling official soundtrack album, and a wedding magazine special, among others.
The New York Festivals-nominated series was, at one point, also set to be translated into a movie. However, due to the "tight schedule" in filming the TV series, the big-screen version was eventually pulled out from the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Originally slated for a one-season run, "Be Careful With My Heart" initially centered on Maya dela Rosa (Sta. Maria) as a barrio lass with big dreams, and her love story with Richard Lim (Yap), a widowed businessman with three children.
Due to the series' popularity, it has been extended numerous times, with several "milestones" in the relationship of the nanny-turned-flight attendant and her former employer marking highlights throughout the program's run.
These developments in their love story also became worldwide trending topics on Twitter, from their first date, first exchange of "I love you's," first kiss, to Richard's wedding proposal to Maya.
Over the two-year run of "Be Careful With My Heart," Maya and Richard have gotten married, welcomed twins, and adjusted to a family life riddled with challenges.
Last July, the show celebrated its second anniversary on air with a grand concert at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City -- a culmination of sorts of the cast's world tour in the past months.
"Be Careful With My Heart" also stars Mutya Orquia, Janella Salvador, Jerome Ponce, Aiza Seguerra, and Sylvia Sanchez. It is under the direction of Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial.
